knowing Christ and making Him known

Catch the Wind

Catch the Wind is our vision for growth for both the parish of St Peter’s Halliwell and St Peter’s church. It expresses our commitment, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, to develop balanced growth in our relationship:

I

with God through worship
II

with each another in community
III

with the world through outreach

These dynamic relationships are expressed in the triangle:

Over the last 3 years we have had 6 key priorities as part of Catch the Wind:

  • Prayer

Prayer is recognised by every member as vital to God’s work

  • Time, Gifts & Resources

Everybody is using their time, gifts and money effectively for God

  • Welcome Ministry

All newcomers are appropriately welcomed and helped to be part of St Peter’s

  • Pastoral Care

Everybody has access to appropriate care & feels part of the church community

  • Ministry among Children and Young People

Families are introduced to Christ, enabling them to disciple their children and empowering their children to introduce their peers to Christ.

  • Outreach and Evangelism

Everybody is committed to the task of mission through word and action to make and grow disciples.

We are now entering a new phase of Catch the Wind, in which we want to make it a unifying vision that directs every activity in the ministry and mission of St Peter’s (like the lettering in a stick of Blackpool Rock!). A new Leadership Team has come together in summer 2007 to enable this to happen.
