St Peter's Israel Visit 2007

Day 2:  Jerusalem

Today we visited mainly Christian Sights

  1. The Museum of Israel – including the Dead Sea Scrolls and a Model of Jerusalem.
  2. The Mount of Olives,
  3. The Church of Pater Noster
  4. The Church Dominus Flevit – The Lord wept
  5. The Church of all Nations
  6. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre,
  7. The Church of St Peter of Gallicantu, (Caiaphas’ house)
  8. The Garden Tomb,
  9. The Upper Room,
  10. David's Tomb,

The Shrine of the Book is another building that is also a work of art.  Its roof is shaped like the lid of one of the jar in which the scrolls were found.

Today, it wasn’t the churches that made the impact – beautiful as they are– it was the views; first from the Mount of Olives over the Temple Mount to West Jerusalem and later from St Peter of Gallicantu over East Jerusalem and our fist sight of the infamous wall

This evening we ate at the Ambassador Hotel in East Jerusalem in a tent in the Garden.
