Day 5:  Bethlehem

There were two more talks today.  One was ‘The Palestinian Perspective of the Arab – Israeli Conflict’ and the other was ‘End Time Theology’.  Both were extremely informative.

We also shared in chapel with the whole college and a group of PhD students visiting from America.  We were asked to sing a song, so we gathered as an impromptu choir and sang My Jesus My Saviour (the only one we all new all the words to!)

The director of the Shepherd Society gave us a tour of his offices and the rest of the college.  The college provides courses in tourism and media studies as well as theology.  They have their own TV and recording studios and broadcast shows they make on the local TV.  The college also provides IT and Library facilities for the whole community.

In the evening we walked to a little Café we’d been told about; Sima’s Café.  Sima is a lady who dreamed of bringing some of the finer things in life to the people of Bethlehem. So, she went to America and Europe to train as a patisserie chef.  She has now returned and opened this lovely café as a place where people gather, especially women and families.
