In March, 2008, Neil Prendergast, Mick Czajkowski, and 5 young men from Fox Street youth club, went out to Romania to repair the home of the Pantea family. Their plan was to repair part of the house roof and also put a roof on the outside kitchen.

Unfortunatelly, part of the back of the house wall fell down under the weight of snow, so this was now their main job. They did a wonderful job and the Pantea family were extremely happy. They had been living for some time with just a cloth hanging over the large hole.

Their conditions are poor anyway, little heating and earth floors, but this work done by this group made a massive difference. Here are some of the photographs – Herbert T Forrest kindly donated money and clothing with the logos on, which they proudly wore!

One picture shows Romica who almost lost his life when his Mum, who had lost all her parental rights, tied him to a bed and she set fire to clothing in the middle of the floor, fortunately, a neighbour rescued him.

In another photo, Mick is with Romica and his new half sister, Mihaela. They loved all the men being at their house!

And in yet another Mr Pantea shows the mess left by the house wall falling down under the weight of the snow.
